Girls, Girls, Girls

Saturday night was GIRLS night out and boy did we have a good time! We decided to go to the Carolina game (thanks for getting us the tickets, Mary) and we somehow managed to talk my brother-in-law Sean into driving us all. I'm not sure how we managed this, but he did it and we owe him a big thanks for that! We also managed to get all the men folk to stay home with the babies, so we knew they were in good hands and could go out and have fun. Sean picked us up about 3 pm and we headed off to the game. I have to say the most fun was just getting to hang out with these ladies and catch up.

After the game, we went back to Mary's for more "hanging out", because we just weren't ready to go home yet. We did not behave, we did not get home at a respectable hour, but we did have tons of fun and shared lots of laughs!

And I just had to show this picture I took of Carter before I left the house. His head is thrown back in the throws of laughter and I just thought it was too cute. It's almost like he's saying, "you're leaving me with who...haha". But I have to confess, Scott did a wonderful job taking care of him, as always! :)

Baby Mullet

I think it's pretty commonly known that some babies can lose their hair after they are born. What's not so commonly known?? That your baby can develop a mullet all on his own. See here's what happens....as your baby sleeps, he can rub the hair off his head in the spots where his head touches the crib. A friend of ours dubbed this the baby mullet and it looks a little something like this....

Ahhhh....too funny! The good news in this situation is that Carter is now growing some new hair and it seems to be filling in the bald spot!

Here's a pic of Carter sitting in his Bumbo seat. I was so excited when he was able to start using it. That feeling was promptly replaced with sadness when I realized that he won't be using it long because when I went to take him out, the seat lifted up too because it was stuck on his little thunder thighs!

The Weekend Travels

Carter and I took a trip on Saturday to Florence to meet my mom, sisters, and nieces. It was basically a girls day out, plus Carter. But he was wearing his camouflage, so all the girliness wouldn't get to him! We started the day off at Chuckie Cheese for lunch which is basically madness in a box, but fun. Then we went to the She Show at the civic center which is a women's show that has a lot of information about women's health issues and of course shopping.

Carter and his cousin, Teagan

Probably the best part of the day for me was when Carter spit up on my sister Holly not once, not twice, but THREE times. I'm not sure how she got that lucky. The first time she was holding him the spit up went right down the cleavage. So, she passed him back to me and went to the bathroom to get cleaned up. When she came back she said let's try this again, so I give him back to her. She was holding him for no less than 3 minutes I swear and he did it AGAIN, right down the shirt! I almost couldn't stop laughing! Then the third time was a little later in the day and on the shoulder, but no less funny. I think I was just happy he wasn't spitting up on me for a change, sorry Holly!

Plus, Mom brought me this super cute outfit that she made for Carter. (She is so talented!) So, we promptly sported it at church today! Thanks Granny!

Fun with Smith and Addison

Carter, Smith, and Addison have become fast friends! This week was so much fun because I got to do so much with friends, like sewing with Mary and Macy (more on that later). Carter and I got together with the Krissee and the twins twice this week. The first afternoon trip was to Target and the pizza joint where we needed a table of 8 to fit all of our strollers and gear.

Large table for only two adults!

Today we went over to Krissee's to help out because dad Daniel was out of town. Let me just go on record as saying.....I'm sooo glad I don't have twins. Seriously, I'm not sure how she does it. At one point I was bouncing Carter on my knee trying to keep him from melting down at the same time trying to get Addison to finish her bottle and there was Krissee and Smith over on the couch just enjoying the show. I think Krissee got a pretty big kick out of it. We decided we wanted to go to Tot Trade this afternoon, so we loaded up the kids and it looked a little something like this...

It was pretty tight quarters, but they didn't seem to mind. Anyway, it was a fun day for the kids and moms!

Once Upon A Time

Once upon a time I had a job where I had these amazing coworkers. Really, they were great and it actually made going to work fun. Well luckily, I still get to see them every now and then. They get to hear about Carter and I get to hear about all the fun I'm not missing back at "work". Here are some pictures of our lunch out last week.

Ann and Carter (She is such a pro!)

Me and Bob (the ol' slave driver of a boss)

This week we get to have lunch again because it's Bob's birthday...I won't say how old! It is fun being able to stay in touch though!

Godparents or Bust!

This was Carter's first trip to Rock Hill to see his Godparents, and we had so much fun (once we got there)! Poor boy was just so excited he cried almost the entire way there. When I was just about to throw myself out the window, I pulled over on the side of the exit and hopped in the back to try to comfort him because the hand reaching in the back from the drivers seat was doing nothing. As soon as I got in the back he quit crying and everything seemed to be OK, until I went to get out of the car......and the door was STUCK!! Seriously, I'm on the side of the road in the back seat of the car with my baby and locked in! I had to crawl half way up front and put the key in the ignition so I could roll down the window and open the door from the outside. whew! I thought I might be stuck there forever!

Anyway, once we got to Rock Hill, things went much better! We got to watch the Carolina Game, eat lots of great snacks, hang out with the girls, and have a yummy cook out. They even had a birthday cake for me to celebrate my birthday. Thanks to Heather for letting me completely invade her house with baby gear. I'm serious, I think there was something baby related in almost every room of her house...even the fridge!

Carter and I with the his wonderful Godparents!

Shelly and sweet boy Carter (this pic was way too cute not to show!)

Then after Carter played and smiled for everyone, he went to bed about 8 o'clock and left mom to have some much needed adult time with great friends! I love your friendship girls, and my only regret is that we don't get to share in it often enough!

If This Were the Gong Show

I'd definitely get gonged (if that's a word). Anyway, I took my burp cloths by two places today with no luck. One place said it was more of a gift item and they don't really carry things like that. The other place said they are just able to get things from their wholesalers so much cheaper that they normally do all their purchasing through them. I still have a few places on my list though, so I'm not giving up yet!

Stay at Home Hobby

Well as most of you know, I'm staying at home with Carter right now. Let me tell you, it definitely has it's ups and downs. I try to stay busy taking care of Carter, cleaning house, and looking for jobs, but sometimes I just need to do something else! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE being with Carter, but it can get a little boring being home all day every day.

So, I've started a new hobby....custom made burp cloths. Now, once I get a few made up, I'm going to take them around to the children's boutiques in town and see if they will carry them. I think they've turned out pretty cute so far.

I'll keep you updated as to whether I can actually get them in the stores or not! Cross your fingers!

A Boy and his Boat

I thought Carter would be at least a few years old before he got his first piece of fishing/hunting equipment. Turns out, he barely made it out of the womb! Thanks to Granny and Papa, Carter is now the proud owner of his very own boat, which will be perfect for fishing the little lake behind our house. Of course, daddy gets to use it until Carter's old enough to take the helm as captain himself which tickles Scott to pieces. According to Papa, we need to get it painted with the name "Carter's Little Boat".

Daddy and Carter pleased as punch!

Papa knows just what a boy wants! :)

Why not!

I didn't think this blogging thing would be something I would be into, but here I am giving it a try. Why not, right?! It's like I have so many better things to do. Well actually I do have to job hunt (and that's pretty important), but I still have time for plenty of other things. Anyway, I hope I don't bore you to death. I'm sure I'll have lots of post about Carter.

Carter Sean June 3rd, 2008

It's hard to remember him that small because he was only that small for about two minutes! Now, he's 3 months old and a whooping 16lbs. I'm sure I'll post some more recent pics soon. Anyway, hope you guys enjoy!
